William “Bill” Karl Erhardt, 84, of Erie, CO, passed away September 17th, 2017 at Broomfield Skilled Nursing, Broomfield, CO.
Born September 21st, 1932 in Philadelphia, PA to immigrant parents, Bill graduated from Olney High School (Philadelphia, PA) before serving with the United States Marine Corps in the Korean War. After returning stateside, he was able to continue his education, earning the degree of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University (Philadelphia, PA). On June 20th, 1959, Bill married Betty Jane LeFevre Erhardt in Willow Street, PA. He worked as an Electrical Design Engineer at Honeywell, Inc. in Fort Washington, PA until his retirement in 1999. Bill was a member of the DE Valley Woodcarvers, the Northern CO Woodcarvers, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Jane Erhardt of Erie, CO; his sons, William Kurt Erhardt (wife, Elizabeth) of Erie, CO, R. Karl Erhardt (wife, Lorraine) of Millburn, NJ, and S. Eric Erhardt of Arvada, CO; his sister, Frieda L. Thompson, of Cape May, NJ; and his four grandchildren.
A graveside service with military honors provided by the United States Marine Corps will take place on Wednesday, November 22nd at 1:00 PM at Washington Crossing National Cemetery (830 Highland Avenue, Newtown, PA 18940). Following the ceremony, there will be a luncheon at Washington Crossing Inn for friends and family.
