Stephen Kline

Stephen Charles Kline peacefully passed from this life to the next on Nov. 4, 2013 in Boulder. He was 65. He was aptly named after St. Stephen, who always took care of widows, orphans and the less fortunate. Whenever anyone was in need, he was willing to help. Stephen was a wonderful father, husband and son, as well as a much-loved brother-in-law and good friend. He was a quiet man, but when he spoke, it was always worth listening to. He had a wonderful smile and beautiful, expressive blue eyes. He was deeply honest, peaceful and had a strong work ethic. At the end his peace and strength was a source of comfort to his family and friends who came to visit. Stephen was born Nov. 5, 1949 to Leon W. Kline and Mary Virginia Kline in Los Angeles. He earned a Bachelor's degree in engineering from Loyola Marymount University and a Master's degree in mechanical engineering from UCLA. Stephen lived in the Boulder area for 38 years. He married Maria C. Lord on June 21, 1980 in Longmont. He worked in nuclear safety for General Atomic, the Fort St. Vrain Power Plant, SM Stoller Corp. and the Batelle Memorial Institute. Stephen was a natural-born mechanic and jack-of-all-trades, always working on cars, refrigerators or anything else that needed fixing around the house. He also enjoyed fishing. He is survived by his wife Maria of Boulder; his daughter Rebecca Kline of Boulder; and a brother, William Kline of Green Bay, Wis. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Sacred Heart of Jesus, 1317 Mapleton Ave. in Boulder. Reception to follow at the church.
