Boulder

Robert “Biff” Bilstein passed away on March 15th, 2024 from Acute Leukemia at Anschutz Medical Center. He was 85.

Born on October 28th, 1938 at St. Francis Hospital (Evanston, IL) to parents Ann Caroline Laechle Bilstein and William Peter Bilstein, Biff grew up in the Chicago area, graduating from St. Michael Central High School in 1956. He then earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Marquette University in 1960, followed by an M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. After college, Biff graduated from the U.S. Naval Station’s Officer Cadet School in Newport, RI and was assigned to a destroyer. He served multiple tours, including to the coast off Vietnam towards the beginning of the war, and ultimately earned the rank of Lieutenant before joining the private sector. His impressive career began as L & S Manager with Time, Inc. from 1964-69; then he served as SVP for Neodata from 1969-2003. It was during this time that Biff relocated to Boulder for work with Neodata. From 2003-07, he worked as a Marketing Consultant with Crocs, Inc. and as VP of Sales for Palm Coast Data. Finally, from 2005 until his death, Biff served as Founder & CEO of Nostalgix, LLC.

On November 30th, 2017, Biff married Sheri Bilstein (neé Karnofel) in Boulder, CO and became stepfather to their three children, whom he treated as blood-relatives from the start. In addition to his love for work and family, Biff was an enthusiastic snow skier, an avid golfer, and a collector of fine wines. He volunteered as POTL Chair at the Humane Society of Boulder Valley, belonged to the Delta Sigma Pi fraternity, and was a member of Boulder Country & Golf Club for over 40 years. Biff’s family remembers him as “the most loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He never knew a stranger and was living proof that love can transcend blood relations.”

Biff is survived by his loving wife, Sheri Bilstein, of Boulder; his sister, Lois Bilstein Walter (husband Steve) of Florida; his brother, Chuck Bilstein (wife Rosemary) of Las Vegas, NV; his stepdaughters, Hether Florman (husband Jim) of Arvada, CO and Monique Lagomarsino (husband Bob) of San Mateo, CA; and his stepson, Michael Hawn, of Dacono, CO. Biff was preceded in death by his first wife, Michelle.
