Megan B. Edrington (McGuire), age 43, of Lafayette, CO, passed away from complications of CNS Lymphoma on March 16, 2023. Megan grew up in Bradenton, Florida, and graduated from Manatee High School. She attended Florida State University earning a Bachelor’s in Music Education and obtained a Master’s Degree in Music Performance (Viola) from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Megan deeply loved her family and music; she was a founding member of the MEO String Quartet and Sphere Ensemble as well as a tenured Violist with the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra. A career highlight was playing The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. with the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra as part of the SHIFT: A Festival of American Orchestras. Her passion was teaching music and she maintained a private teaching studio over the past 15 years. She taught orchestra at Glenridge Middle School in Winter Park, Florida, Longs Peak Middle School and Longmont High School in Longmont, Colorado. She was a member of the Fort Collins Symphony Orchestra and the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra. As a youth she was a member of the Florida West Coast Youth Symphony (Sarasota Orchestra) where she first met her future husband. Her greatest accomplishment was being a Mom to her three girls. Strong and loyal by nature, she left a lasting example for her daughters. Her strength and persistence are present in each of them. She was a Girl Scout Leader and a passionate childhood Epilepsy advocate. She was a devoted wife and best friend to her husband, having met and fallen in love in high school. Both being string players, Megan and Aaron enjoyed a shared love of music and each other. Dating at the ages of 15 and 16, they became lifelong soulmates inseparable in life. Megan will be remembered for her strength, her conviction, her loyalty, and her love for others.
Megan is survived by husband Aaron and daughters Meara (14), Ainsley (11), and MacKenna (8), and siblings Mindy Taylor (Doug), Michelle Bahtic (Nedin), and Matt McGuire (Christy), and 7 nieces and 1 nephew. Megan was preceded in death by her parents Kristine and William McGuire.
To honor Megan’s memory, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Dairy Arts Center in Boulder, Colorado on June 26, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. Reception will follow immediately after.
