Marjorie Ann Fisher of Boulder passed away Feb. 10, 2014 at Alpine Living Center in Denver. She was 80.
More than anything, she loved life, laughter, her family, and sharing both sorrows and good times with her many good friends, old and new.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church, 1820 15th St., Boulder, 80302. Marjorie requested that her ashes be distributed in the mountains near Boulder.
Marjorie was born April 14, 1933 in Lakewood, Colo., the daughter of Andrew and Marjorie Shaw. While growing up, her mother helped start Episcopal churches in Lakewood and Apache Junction, Ariz.
She married Claude Malay on Jan. 27, 1951 and they had three children. They later divorced.
Marjorie married Joe Selan in 1973 and they enjoyed traveling and roaming the country in their motor home. She and Joe maintained two homes, in Boulder and Queen Valley, Ariz. When Joe died in 1995 she stayed on in Queen Valley, where she lived for 15 years.
In 1997 she married Robert Burns, who passed away in 1998. She married Bill Fisher in 1999 and they traveled to Hawaii together several times before he died in 2006.
Marjorie was a housewife and mother and worked as a dental assistant in Boulder and a doctor's assistant in Pueblo. She also owned a gift shop in Pueblo, where she lived for 15 years.
She loved to play cards, including bridge, and was very good at it. She also enjoyed playing bunco, entertaining in her home, playing golf and traveling; all told, she visited 47 states and China. She served as president of the Jaycee Jems.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Diane Lynn LaManna and her husband Tom; two sons, Douglas Patrick Malay and his wife Cindy and David Scott Malay and his wife Leslie; grandchildren Misha LaManna, Ryan Malay and his wife Rachel, Jason Malay and his fiancé Kayla Worth, Michael Malay and his wife Tasha, Christopher Malay, and Charles Malay; great-grandchildren Stormy LaManna and Misha LaManna, Jr.; great-great-granddaughter Naveyha LaManna; three stepchildren, Ginger Pelsch and her husband Tom, Michael Selan and his wife Jean, and Gary Selan and his wife Brenda; and step-grandchildren, Hannah, Jacob, Ryan and Jocelyn. She is also survived by her brother, Alan Shaw and his wife June; and a niece, Alla Shaw.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Kettering; and a niece, Karen Taylor.
