Marian Dorothy Engel, of Boulder, died Sunday, July 17, 2016 at TRU Community Care Center of Boulder. She was 93.
Born October 1, 1922 in Rock Valley, Iowa, she is the daughter of Gerrit Wissink and Bertha Vande Weerd Wissink. Marian married Robert Miles Engel on November 30th, 1945, in Luverne, Minnesota. He preceded her in death on July 5th, 1990.
Marian graduated from Rock Valley High School. During World War II she worked in defense plants in Grand Rapids, Michigan and Delavan, Wisconsin. Marian lived in Cherokee, Iowa, Des Moines, Iowa, and Scottsbluff, Nebraska, before moving to Boulder in February, 1967.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Boulder. Marian worked in the Deacons’ Closet at First Presbyterian Church from 1986 until 2002. She was a member of PEO Chapter EQ. For many years Marian presented programs for various organizations, including Left Handedness, Shakers, Pets of the White House, and more.
A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held on Sun., July 24th, at 2:30 P.M. in the Golden West Manor Penthouse, 1055 Adams Circle, Boulder, CO 80303. Parking is limited, please use the east entrance to attend the service.
