Lois Jean Nemecek, 87, of Boulder, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, August 16, 2017.
Lois was born on April 4, 1930, to Henry and Olive C. (Prasil) Barton and grew up in Berwyn, IL. She attended Morton High School in Cicero, IL, and went on to college at Iowa State University in Ames, obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. At the age of 24, Lois married Alfred E. Nemecek, with whom she had two daughters. The two later divorced.
After working as a textile engineer for Sears Robuck Testing and Development Laboratory in Chicago, Lois moved to Boulder from La Grange Park, Illinois, in 1966, where she worked as a bookkeeper for Kahn’s Ladies Wear and various other Boulder businesses. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church.
A Celebration of Lois' Life will be held on Saturday, September 9 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Harlow Platts Community Park, under the shelter behind the rec center at 1360 Gillaspie Drive, Boulder, CO 80305. Please look for the signs with the arrows for the service.
Preceded in death by her parents and daughter Nancy Rockafellow, Lois is survived by daughters Barbara Nemecek of Longmont, CO; Laurel (Roger) Muchmore of Broomfield, CO; brother Henry Barton of Belmont, CA; granddaughter Kaitlyn Muchmore; one great-grandson, and former son-in-law Rocky Rockafellow of Broomfield, CO. She will be dearly missed.
