Kathleen Harrach

Kathleen Harrach, longtime Boulder resident, passed away from old age at Balfour Lavender Farms in Louisville on April 6th, 2023. She was 93. Born October 26th, 1929, in New York, NY to parents Henry Wurts and Doris (Nation) Wurts, Kathleen grew up in the city of her birth. She graduated from Erasmus Hall High School (Brooklyn, NY) in 1948, and she earned her Associate of Arts & Science degree in Chemistry from the New York City Technical College of the City University of New York in 1950. In 1952, Kathleen married Lloyd Lewis Harrach in New York City. The couple began their family life in Kansas (Missouri, Linda) and then to NYC (George, Carol, Edward), later they moved to the Boulder area when Lloyd was transferred by his employer in 1969. While Kathleen's primary focus was her role as homemaker helping raise four children, Linda, George, Carol, and Edward, she also worked outside the house: for various electrical-assembly plants in Boulder County, as a seamstress for mountaineering companies Holubar, Frostline Kits and also for Contemporary Comfort. Apart from work, Kathleen was an active member of St. Aidan's Episcopal Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.She also loved traveling to Blackhawk and Central City to play the slots.In retirement Kathleen and Lloyd liked to take road trips. Mostly, though, she enjoyed peaceful solitude. Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Harrach, her daughter, Linda Applegate, her brother Henry Wurts, of New York. She is survived by George Harrach of Colorado, Carol Harrach of New Mexico, and Edward Harrach of New Mexico. She has 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Aidan's Episcopal Church, 2425 Colorado Ave, Boulder, CO 80302, at 11 AM, Friday, April 21st, followed by a reception at church. A burial will take place at Green Mountain Cemetery (290 20th St, Boulder, CO 80302) at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the USO, Wounded Veterans.
