Joseph Michael Woods

After a long, brave fight against myriad health issues, Joseph Woods passed away at home surrounded by family on February 26, 2025.

Born on November 1, 1942, in Bastrop, Texas, Joe was the son of Cecil W. Woods and Martha Nell Hutchesen Woods. He grew up in Norman, OK and received BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering at the University of Oklahoma. He worked at NASA’s Manned Spacecraft Center near Houston, TX where he was part of the development team for the first color TV camera to go to the moon. He met his wife, Arleen Wolfard, at OU and they were married on June 11, 1965, in Enid, OK. In 1971 they moved to Boulder where he worked at Ball Aerospace and later founded Woods Electronics.

He is survived by his wife, his son Michael (Jane) Woods and his daughter Anne Woods Tinkum (Edward). He is also survived by his three grandchildren Sophie Woods and Wyatt and Joe Tinkum.
