Jeffrey

Jeffrey William Marshall

Jeffrey William Marshall died January 9, 2025, he was born on July 7, 1997, in Boulder, Colorado, to Mark Marshall and Sherry Wager. He attended public school in Boulder, graduated from Boulder High, and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in geology from Colorado State University.

Jeffrey later pursued a career in Human Resources at the YMCA of the Rockies, where his dedication and professionalism left a lasting impression.

Jeffrey truly had the heart of an athlete in spite of his physical limitations. Jeffrey was certified to scuba dive at the age of 11. He participated in sled hockey throughout middle and high school and took up wheelchair tennis as a teenager. He enjoyed summer tennis camps in California as a teen and became a lifelong avid tennis player. His tennis coach said of Jeffrey, his “presence on the court was one of fierce determination and unwavering sportsmanship. He embraced tennis with a contagious enthusiasm that inspired both teammates and competitors alike.” He took fitness seriously and worked out with a personal trainer twice weekly. Jeffrey was the recipient of the John Lynch Athlete College Scholarship Award in the disabled athlete division in 2015, presented to him by John Elway.

He was an avid fan of the Colorado Avalanche and the Colorado Rockies. He was also a big fan of Green Day, and one of the highlights of his life was seeing them in concert with his good friends at Coors Field this fall.

The summer before his senior year at CSU, he studied geology abroad in Orvieto in the Umbria region of Italy. This was an incredible life changing experience for him both educationally and culturally. Due to Jeffrey's physical limitations, this was especially challenging in these medieval inaccessible locations. His success gave him a lot of confidence in his ability to be independent. He made a lifelong friend Eugenia, whom he kept in touch with until his final day.

Jeffrey was an extremely caring, kind, and empathetic person. His friendships have stood the test of time, some lasting from kindergarten, through college, to present day. His friends cherished his positive attitude, his calm, no-drama demeanor, and how much he cared for others.

Born with Maffucci Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder, he maintained a positive attitude despite the obstacles. He handled all of life’s challenges with grace, resilience, equanimity, and good humor. May his courage and spirit continue to inspire all who knew him.

Jeffrey passed away on January 9, 2025, at University of Colorado Anschutz Hospital after a brief battle with angiosarcoma, an extremely aggressive and rare cancer.

Jeffrey is survived by his parents, Mark Marshall and Sherry Wager, as well as beloved uncles, aunts, and cousins. He is greatly missed by his cherished and beloved dog Dexter.
