Jean R. Thompson, 98, of Boulder, died on Friday, June 7, 2013 at Frasier Meadows in Boulder.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church Chapel, 1820 15th St., Boulder. A reception will follow the service. Burial will be held at the Pine Crest Cemetery, Reeds Spring, Missouri.
Jean was born March 15, 1915 to John E. and Winifred (Garnich) Reynolds in Minneapolis, MN. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN. Jean married Andrus Thompson in 1939 in Minneapolis.
She was the Activities Directors at the Guardian Angels Senior Care Center in Elk River, Minnesota. Jean moved to Boulder in 1988. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Boulder and enjoyed quilting, hiking, painting, entertaining and life-long friendships. She lived a life of practical and steadfast Christian faith, a legacy for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her life was characterized by love of family, creativity and her gracious hospitality. Jean had enthusiasm for new ideas and experiences, adapting to changes in life circumstances with grace and humor. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, John and Fred Reynolds and her beloved husband Andy.
Survivors: Daughters Kay Oltmans (Sam) of Boulder and Elizabeth Sole (Fred) of Plymouth, Michigan; grandchildren Jonathan Oltmans (Jodie), Sarah Oltmans, Nathaniel Oltmans, Andrew Sole, Brian Sole (Mayumi) and Mark Sole (Noell); and 10 great-grandchildren.
