Herbert B. “Herb” Blacker of Boulder died, Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at Golden West in Boulder. He was 95.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 1, 2016, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 3300 Table Mesa Dr, Boulder, CO 80305. A reception will follow the mass at the church and a public graveside will be held at 1:30 P.M. at Mountain View Memorial Park, 3016 Kalmia Ave, Boulder, CO 8030. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army.
Herb was born on October 14, 1920 in White Heath, IL to Clarence and Julia (Peters) Blacker. He went on to study chemistry at James Millikin University in Decatur, IL and then entered the military in 1940. During Herb’s time in the United States Army Air Corps and National Guard he was a navigator and bombardier. He retired from the Federal Government printing office.
Herb was married to Rita Meyer on November 2, 1945 in IL and they moved to Boulder in 1958.
She proceeded him in death on February 4, 1991 and his daughter Barbara Schiferl in 1999.
Herb is survived by his significant other Peg Frank of Boulder; three daughters, Patricia Carter of Westminster, Elizabeth Blacker of W. Glacier, MT, and Margaret Blacker of Concord, NH; three sons, Stephen Blacker of Boulder, Richard Blacker of Westminster, Donald Blacker of Boulder and former son in law James Schiferl of Milliken, CO. Herb also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
