Born in Newark, New York, to Jerry R. Fowler and Catherine (Updike) Fowler, Helen grew up in the Finger Lakes region of New York. She married her high school sweetheart, James Robinson, on March 8, 1941. Jim passed away in 2011 shortly after they celebrated a joyous 70th wedding anniversary.

Helen enjoyed gardening, ham radio, family camping, sewing, quilting, and cake decorating.
Helen was active at First Presbyterian Church for 40 years and served as a Deacon.

Over the years, Helen and Jim resided in several states including New York, California, and Colorado often living in homes that they built themselves. They moved to Boulder in 1974.
