Greg Hopper, 43, of Wheat Ridge, passed away due to health complications on August 6, 2021. He is survived by his parents, Buck and Connie Hopper of Erie, CO, and his sister, Annie Skidmore, and her husband, Matthew, and their children, of Erie, CO.
Greg grew up in Boulder, attending Crest View Elementary, Centennial Middle School and Boulder High School. He was a talented percussionist and musician. He was selected to participate in the Colorado All-State Band as a senior. He attended Baylor University in Waco, TX and Metro State University in Denver.
Greg displayed extraordinary verbal skills from a very young age. He was a natural teacher, with great patience and compassion. It was easy for him to explain complex ideas in a way you could understand. A voracious reader, he retained everything he read. Bring up almost any subject, and he could give you an informed account about it. He had an incredible sense of humor, and a quick wit. He was vibrant and kind. He was thoughtful and generous; a giver of great gifts.
Greg enjoyed God’s creation. In his younger years he enjoyed hiking, camping, fishing and snowboarding. He excelled in youth sports such as soccer and track. As an adult he loved the technology of music and sound. He composed his own music. He understood the complexities of modern technology and was always willing to teach others about the latest tech trends. He was adept at technical writing, as well as poetry and prose. He collaborated with a friend in developing a new type of synthesizer. He loved video games and any mental challenge. Greg loved a good meal, especially sushi. He enjoyed adventures and travel. He loved spending time with family and made that a priority. He was a fun uncle, often bringing his nephews gifts. He got them drumsticks and gave them their first drum lesson -- to their great delight.
We loved him deeply. He will be greatly missed, but we know he is rejoicing in heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
A memorial service to celebrate Greg’s life will be held Friday, August 27, 2021, at 1:00 pm at Calvary Bible Church, 3245 Kalmia Ave., Boulder, CO 80301. Contributions may be given to: The Salvation Army Denver Harbor Light Center, 2136 Champa Street, Denver, CO 80205.
