Gleigh E. Richardson, 88, passed away peacefully at Tru Hospice in Louisville on August 2nd, 2014. After growing up in New England, she spent much of her life here in Colorado, including the past seventeen years.
Born October 19th, 1925 in Beecher Falls, VT to parents George Newton Luther and Ruby Almeda Haynes, Gleigh grew up in East Hardwick, VT, excelled in the classroom and on the basketball court, and graduated from Greensboro High School. Thereafter, she enrolled at Barre City Nursing School (VT), graduating in 1947, and began her forty-year career in nursing. During her time at Barre City, she met her first husband, Roger Gendreau of Lowell, MA. By the 1960s, Gleigh's love for skiing brought her to the beautiful Rocky Mountains. For a time, life took her to Florida, where she met her second husband, Wade Richardson, and continued to work as a nurse. Ultimately, Gleigh settled back in Boulder to enjoy time with family, friends, animals, and nature. She especially cherished time spent with her beloved nursing friend, Sue Reed, who was at her bedside until the end, and her cat, Booty. Gleigh was a great Broncos fan, and she adored quarterbacks John Elway and Peyton Manning. Although she did develop an affinity for the Bills after meeting Wade, her love for the Broncos never waned. Gleigh spent her final years in Erie, comforted by the hospitality and love of her daughter, Dianne Lippoldt, and son-in-law, Lynn Allen Lippoldt.
Additionally, Gleigh is survived by her sister, Calista Lawson of Sebring, FL, her first husband, Roger (Irene) Gendreau of Derry, NH, her daughter, Dianne (Lynn) Lippoldt of Erie, CO, her granddaughter, Jennifer (Shawn) McManus of Tyngsboro, MA, Wade's grandson, James Richardson and the Richardson Family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her second husband, Wade Richardson, as well as her brothers Bradley and Burleigh Luther.
The family will hold a private memorial service in Vermont, and Gleigh will be buried at Sanborn Cemetery in East Hardwick, VT. Contributions may be made in Gleigh's memory to Tru Hospice in Louisville, CO (1855 Plaza Drive Louisville, CO 80027).
