Gary Arthur Garrison died February 19, 2021, after battling viral meningitis. He was 74. Gary was born August 29, 1946, in Los Angeles, CA to Arthur and Velva Garrison. He grew up in Huntley, NE before the family moved to Colorado, where they farmed near Dubuque, then moved to Grand Junction. Gary earned an associate's degree from Mesa Community College, a bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Colorado, and a master's degree from the University of Colorado. Gary served in the Colorado Air Guard and the US Air Force, earning the rank of Captain. He was stationed in San Antonio, TX, and Colorado. After being Honorably Discharged from the Air Force, Gary settled in Boulder with his son Nathan. In Boulder, he met Debbie and they married in 1982. Gary was preceded in death by his parent's Art and Velva and his brother Brian. He is survived by his wife Debbie, children Nathan, Ashley, Tyler, and Jonathan, granddaughter Anna, sisters Karen and Beverly, and their spouses.
Throughout his life Gary was active in many community organizations including Boy Scouts, the Methodist Church, and Little League Baseball. He was a lifelong educator and had a wry sense of humor. Gary loved living in the mountains. Gary and Debbie enjoyed touring National Parks on their twin motorcycles. A celebration of life will be held in summer 2021.
