Frank Bradley died peacefully in Aspen House in Loveland in the company of his daughter and the wonderful family of caregivers who have supported him and his family during his brief final illness. He was a few weeks shy of 91, and he had lived a very full life.
Private family services will be held.
Born in New York City to parents who were telegraphers, he showed an early and abiding love for mathematics, which led him to the Cooper Union and a fulfilling career as an engineer and inventor.
During WWII, he was stationed in Hawaii and Philadelphia, where he met Joanne Carlin, the love of his life, at a USO dance. Together, they started Bradley Telcom, which supplied unique test equipment to the telecomm industry. After selling the business in 1986, they retired to a small town in Switzerland, then moved to Boulder in 2005. He lost Joanne a few months later, after almost 60 years of marriage, but found a second love with Carmel Cronin.
He is survived by his little sister Geraldine (Wilbur) Brady, his son David, a professor of Linguistics at Latrobe University, his daughter Elizabeth, a professor of Computer Science at CU, and their wives Maya Bradley and Andee Rubin, as well as by Carmel and her children.
