Frances T. Sonitzky of Boulder died Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Tru Community Hospice. She was 99.
Frances was born June 30, 1917 to Gustav and Mary (Pfeifenroth) Sonitzky of Chicago, IL. She graduated from high school in Chicago.
Private family services will be held.
Frances spent the majority of her career as a secretary for the United States government. She was a civilian employee of the U.S. Army. In spring of 1941, when the government re-established a peacetime draft, she accepted a temporary indefinite appointment at the Chicago Quartermaster Depot. She remained with the Quartermaster Corps throughout its various transitions and re-organizations until June 1971. Her early retirement at a younger age was made possible when she chose not to move to another state as a result of change of mission.
Frances moved to Boulder in 1993 to be near her niece. She lived at the Meridian most of her time here.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Helen Stirn; and her long-time companion, Frank Miczek of Chicago.
Survivors; niece, Eileen (Bob) Hunnes of Boulder; grand-nephew Eric (Dana) Hunnes of Los Angeles, CA; great-grandnephew, Hugh Hunnes of Los Angeles, CA.
Burial will be in Saint Adalbert Cemetery in Niles, IL.
