Evelyn (Ev) W. Cooper died of natural causes on May 25, 2018 at her home in Boulder, Colorado. She was 91.
She was born June 26, 1926 to Jacob Weinfeld and Celia Menchel Weinfeld and was raised in New York City.
She married Jack Cooper on June 1, 1948 in Brooklyn, N.Y. The couple moved to Boulder in 1964.
Ev was an accomplished pianist who studied in NYC and sang mezzo-soprano in choruses in New York and Colorado. She worked as an editor at Dial Press in New York City and worked as a Certified Medical Group Manager in Boulder. In her last position, Ev served as Executive Director of the Boulder County-based non-profit, Dental Aid. For her work at Dental Aid in support of no-cost and low-cost dental services, she received the Distinguished Service Award from the American Dental Association.
Ev is survived by four sons, Edward Cooper (Anita) of Salida, Colo., David Cooper (Amy) of Boulder, Robert Cooper of Superior and Larry Cooper (Tryna) of Broomfield; 10 grandchildren, Elliot Cooper (Trinity), Meryl Tolsma (Nick), Joe Cooper, Sam Cooper, Nathan Cooper (Vasilena), Daniel Cooper, Hannah Cooper, Jon Cooper (Amy), Jennifer Wilkinson (Brian) and Jill Olson (Travis); and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack in October 2009 and a grandson, Aaron, in November 1979.
A memorial celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 1 at Journeys for Conscious Living, 5855 Wadsworth Bypass, Arvada, Colorado 80003.
