Emily Bernadine Stulac passed away April 8, 2018 in hospice care in Boulder after a brief illness. She was 84.
Emily touched many people’s lives through her long participation in the Tuesday Hikers group and swimming fitness classes and both her working and home lives.
She was born Feb. 4, 1934 in Hazleton, Pa. to Michael Novotny and Margaret Drevenak Novotny. She graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg, Pa. in 1951.
Emily married Robert J. Stulac on June 26, 1954 in Steelton, Pa. They shared 63 years and had seven children together. They moved to Boulder in 1991 from California.
She was a homemaker while her children were growing up, and later worked as a florist and for 15 years as a clerk for the Boulder County Treasurer’s office.
In her spare time, Emily loved to hike and camp and she was an avid stamp collector. She always loved a bargain and was adept at finding one at local garage sales and thrift stores.
She is survived by her husband Bob, of Boulder; three sons, Lawrence J. Stulac of Chatsworth, Calif., David Stulac of San Diego and Robert M. Stulac of Carson City, Nev.; four daughters, Deborah Nokes of Shelton, Wash., Christine Michaelsen of Bend, Ore., Darlene Smith of Boulder and Susan Chriest of Snohomish, Wash.; two brothers, Michael Elias of Harrisburg, Pa. and Andrew Elias of Wilmington, Del.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5 at Sacred Heart of Mary Church at 6739 S. Boulder Road. Interment will be held at Sacred Heart of Mary cemetery, followed by a reception at the church.
