Dr. Jeanne Dahlen Lewis (née Jeanne Victoria Dahlen), 77, passed away in Broomfield, CO on May 17th, 2017, her loving son by her side, after battling complications from Parkinson’s disease.
Born August 29th, 1939 in Thief River Falls, MN to parents Stanton R. Dahlen and Victoria E. Edberg Dahlen, Jeanne married Dr. Brian Arthur Lewis in Thief River Falls on August 17th, 1968. As she pursued her intellectual path, Jeanne graduated with a B.A. from Gustavus Aldophus College (St. Peter, MN), earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin (Madison, WI), and culminated her extensive studies with an M.D. from Washington University (St. Louis, MO). After moving to Boulder forty-eight years ago, she worked as a family physician in Boulder and Lafayette from 1983 until 2003. Further, Jeanne made several medical mission trips to Ukraine and Nicaragua. She was a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Medical Association. When time allowed, Jeanne enjoyed gardening at home and traveling abroad.
Preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Brian Arthur Lewis, in Boulder on February 14th, 2002, Jeanne is survived by her son, Dr. Jeffrey Lewis (Louisville, CO), her sisters, Rosemary Welsh (Cincinnati, OH) and Rochelle Bottemiller (Plymouth, MN), as well as two grandchildren.
A memorial service will take place Mount Calvary Lutheran Church on Sunday, May 28th at 2:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Sara N. Wirth. Thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers for Jeanne.
