Dorothy Alvine died on November 16, 2017. Born in Bellwood, Nebraska, Dorothy lived her early life as a farmer’s daughter with her five siblings. After high school Dorothy deferred college and took a job at the National Weather Bureau in Grand Junction Colorado to support herself and assist her family. While working in Burlington, Iowa, Dorothy met the love of her life, Raymond Alvine.
Dorothy taught her children the lasting values of life by example more than words. She worked tirelessly, loved deeply and found beauty in all things. She shared her strong faith in God, and instilled that faith in her husband and children. In 1961, with 9 children at home and very little more than a hope and a prayer, Dorothy helped Ray start Alvine & Associates. Through her years of hard work and God’s blessings she was able to provide her family many opportunities that she never had. Dorothy also generously and quietly supported anyone she saw in need, as well as a significant number of charitable organizations making an impact on the lives of many.
Dorothy was preceded in death by husband Raymond G. Alvine, and brothers Raymond and Jim Lux. Dorothy is survived by her 10 children, 31 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, two sisters and one brother. Children are Michael Alvine (Michele), Mary Saint Clair (Jonathan -Seattle WA), Joan Pallone (Albert - Broomfield CO), Cynthia Matthews (Boulder CO), Patricia Patterson (Louisville CO), Douglas Alvine (Kim - Omaha NE), Suzanne Alvine (Louisville CO), Steven Alvine (Andra - Omaha NE), Judith Alvine (Beatrice NE), Christine Dunton (Stephen - Broomfield CO).
