Donald Homer Tormohlen, 81, passed away from natural causes on June 8th, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette, CO.
Born on January 13th, 1936 in Fort Morgan, CO to parents Homer Mauntel Tormohlen and Ruby Ione Mummert Tormohlen, Donald went on to earn a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University (Fort Collins, CO). A resident of Westminster, CO for over forty years, Donald took great pride in his work as a specialty machinist for Ball Aerospace in Boulder, CO where he contributed to the repair of the Hubble Spacecraft. After retiring from Ball, Donald remained in Colorado, enjoying bowling, gardening, and baseball. His family remarks that he “leaves many friends and family….He bravely faced many challenges that came his way. He will be missed by all who knew him.”
Donald was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Laurence Tormohlen. He is survived by his son, Greg Fissel (Oro Valley, AZ), his daughter, Elisabeth Dickinson (Lafayette, CO), his brother Edward Tormohlen (wife, Eleanor, Keller, TX), his sister-in-law, Loretta Tormohlen (Brush, CO), his grandchildren, Wenli Dickinson, Kaitlyn Dickinson, Ellen Fout, and Kelly Fissel, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Reverend Peter Munson will officiate a memorial celebration of Donald’s life on Friday, June 23rd (4:00 PM) at Saint Ambrose Episcopal Church, 7520 South Boulder Road, Boulder, CO 80303.
