Darren John (DJ) Straight passed away at Banner Goldfield Medical Center in Apache Junction, Arizona on January 4, 2022 at age 48. DJ was born to Lawrence (Larry) John Straight and Susan (Sue) Jane Straight at Longmont United Hospital, Longmont, CO on January 14, 1973.
After attending Niwot High School, DJ transferred to Fairview High School where he graduated in 1992. DJ attended Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona for two years. He was self- employed in construction as a contractor in CO for many years. DJ lived in Lakewood, CO prior to his death.
DJ’s greatest joys were his son Ty and daughter Marley. He loved gearing his children up to ride quads and motorcycles with him and watching the Denver Broncos with his kids. He had plans of living on a lake so he could buy fast water toys to enjoy with his kids.
Family and friends remember him as being a wild, adventure-loving man. He loved all things fast – cars, motorcycles, and other toys. He lived as if he were invincible, right up until his death.
DJ is survived by his son Ty Christian Straight, 17, of Wheat Ridge, CO, daughter Marley Rae Straight,11,of Evergreen, CO. His parents, Lawrence John Straight of Tucson, AZ and Susan Jane Straight of Mead, CO, sister Bree Ann (Martin) Grealis of Middlebury, CT, along with his uncle Lou Straight and aunt Edie Straight of Tucson, AZ, cousins Heidi (Lane) Klastow of Phoenix, AZ, and Heather Straight of Tucson, AZ, as well as other beloved family members and friends who survive him.
A virtual memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, January 30, 2022 with Dave Runyon, his pastor and friend from high school, presiding.
