Angelina Franch

November 30, 1915 — May 23, 2013

Angelina V. (Dutchie) Franch died peacefully in her sleep on May 23, 2013 at the age of 97. Angelina was the youngest and last living member of a large Italian family including 4 brothers and 4 sisters. She was born and raised in Silverton, CO, which always held a special place in her heart. After her father died, she managed the Benson Hotel, in Silverton, which was the family business. She met her husband Dominick at Silverton High School. They were married in 1940 right before Dom enlisted in the Army and went off to basic training. Angelina went to Denver during the war and opened a grocery store in order to support herself and her daughter, Dona Kay. After the war she opened an Army Surplus store in Silverton and later in Durango. After retirement, she spent her winters in Scottsdale, AZ and summers with her daughter and family in Boulder. Angelina will be remembered for her pleasant manner and generous heart. She and her sisters served as positive role models for all of the family and helped many of the younger generation with their education, which was extremely important to her. She loved to play golf and spend time with her all-important family. She will be missed for her constant smile, her kindness and generosity, her sense of adventure and fun, but mostly for the way she lived life to the fullest. She is survived by her daughter Dona Stever and her son-in-law James Dye of Boulder, CO. Also by her two grandsons, Tom (Kim) Stever of Albuquerque, NM and Jeff (Holly) Stever of Boulder, CO along with four great granddaughters, Erin, Brenna, Rylee and Baylee Stever. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dominick Franch and by a grandson, Michael G. Stever as well as her parents, brothers and sisters. A graveside service followed by a memorial will be scheduled for late July in the Durango/Silverton area. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to TRU CommunityCare, formerly HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties, in her name.
