Alma C "Louise" Vogler

Alma “Louise” C. Vogler passed away in Boulder, CO from natural causes on October 12th, 2024. She was 96.

Born August 23rd, 1928 in Pendleton, Oregon to parents John G. Clouston and 

Alma D. Clouston, Louise grew up in the city of her birth, attending Pendleton High School (Pendleton, OR). She then headed to the University of Oregon (Eugene, OR) where she earned a B.A. in English and met her future husband Lewis while taking classes in the theatre department.

Louise and Lewis E. Vogler were married in Eugene on March 23rd, 1950. Shortly thereafter, Louise and her husband moved to Boulder, CO. He loved mountain climbing, and Boulder was the perfect spot. Having grown up as the daughter of a U.S. Forest Ranger, she was used to moving and shared her husband’s love for the mountains. As their family grew and Lewis continued his work at NIST ( National Institute of Standards and Technology) as a mathematician, Louise expanded her horizons through volunteering at Boulder Community Hospital as a Candy Striper.

When not reading and gardening at her Boulder home, Louise could be found traveling to faraway places like the Himalayas and even Antarctica. Her most recent trip, at age 93, to the famed botanical gardens of Victoria, B.C. was especially memorable.

Louise is survived by her sister, Jean Cahill of Hermiston, OR; her sons, Kenneth Vogler of Boulder, James Vogler (Donna) of Oneonta, NY, and David Vogler of Helena, MT; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was pre-deceased by Lewis Vogler, her loving husband of 66 years.
