Alice Couture Bylow, of Barre, VT passed away on March 19
th
, 2018 in Boulder, CO with her son Gary by her side She was 88.

, 1929 in Wheelock, VT to Rosario Beaucage and Blanche Gregoire Beaucage. Alice graduated from St. Michael’s High School in 1947. She joined the Sisters of Mercy, where she spent six years. After leaving the Sisters of Mercy, she went on to earn her B.A. in Education from Goddard College in Plainfield, VT and began her ever rewarding teaching career. Alice was a gifted teacher with an ability to love and connect with her students. It was a common occurrence to reconnect with former students at the local Hannaford grocery store.
She met and married Magella “Mac” Couture in 1963, and they had two children, Michelle Ann and Gary Mark. While raising her family, Alice continued teaching elementary school at St. Monica’s School where she taught several grades, ultimately retiring after 35 years to the Catholic school system. grade with the children that she adored so much. Tragically, she was parted with Mac in 1985. Following his untimely passing, Alice spent several years single, traveling with her friends, until she married Lawrence E. Bylow on June 20
th
, 1991, in Montpelier, VT. The newlyweds honeymooned in Nashville, TN following their love of country music and spent the next thirteen years traveling around the country, playing golf, and generally enjoying retirement. Their travels took them to Florida, where they visited Michelle, and Colorado to see Gary as well as winters in Wilmington, NC. Alice lost her second husband Larry Bylow in 2004 to cancer. After losing Larry, Alice stayed active in the community. She enjoyed her church and many dear friends in the Catholic Daughters, from whom Alice recently received her fifty-year commemorative pin. Alice lost her beloved daughter, Michelle, to breast cancer in 2010. Alice eventually moved to Boulder, CO to be with her family Gary and his partner Cynthia where she enjoyed years of fun seeing her new home and the love of her family. Alice most enjoyed the summer time when her grandson Austin would come to Colorado to see her. Alice and Austin shared a bond that was dearly treasured by Alice. Alice is remembered for her love of life and family and for her unending kindness.

, 2008. She is survived by her son, Gary Couture and his partner Cynthia Fitzgerald, of Ward, CO; her brother, Robert Beaucage, of Enfield, CT; her sisters, Yvonne Willard, of Barre, VT, and Marion Gagne, of Corpus Christi, TX; her grandson, Austin Couture Forgues, of Mt. Juliet, TN.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, May 8
th
, 2018 at St. Monica Catholic Church (79 Summer Street, Barre, VT) at 11:00 AM, followed by a burial ceremony at St. Sylvester Cemetery in Lower Websterville, VT. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Alice’s honor to St. Monica-St. Michael School, 79 Summer Street, Barre VT 05641.
Alice Bylow lived to serve God and family, was loved by many, and enjoyed long walks even in her late years. May her final walk bring her peace for all eternity. The family thanks you for all your kind thoughts and prayers.
